A prime location to capture a beautiful memory of Klein Brabant on film. Would you like to visit Marnix de Sainte Aldegonde Castle in Bornem yourself? You can visit the experience center and the castle grounds, both individually and in groups. The castle and castle gardens are only accessible with a guide. Filip de Marnix, Lord of Sainte Aldegonde, was the right-hand man of Prince William of Orange. He played a key role during the siege and fall of Antwerp in 1585 while mayor of the city. He is also mentioned as a possible author of the Wilhelmus, the Dutch national anthem.

The Vuurkouter is a 28-hectare nature reserve. It was formed by old flooded clay pits... and is therefore not a wetland, as the original name of this highlight suggested. Natuurpunt purchased almost 7 hectares of the area. You'll see the beautiful large pond where numerous dead trees stand out in a very remarkable way, and a large brickworks chimney rising from the water. The attached building is completely submerged. A very special reminder of times gone by. Visitors can explore the Vuurkouter via the slow-moving road "Oeverdam," which connects Steendorp with Rupelmonde.
