The single-nave chapel from 1868 is a paragon of Belgian Neo-Gothic architecture and was designed by the renowned architect Jean Baptiste Bethune. Bethune was a personal friend of the textile baron and conservative Catholic Joseph de Hemptinne, who later owned the Lousbergs textile factory in Beke.

Poppies symbolize hope and renewal, often appearing after destruction. They are used to honor the memory of fallen soldiers, especially after the First World War. The poppy is also my profile picture. The personal link with the poppy is that I was born on November 11 (Armistice Day). I also have a sincere interest in history and especially in the Great War 1914-1918. During the commemoration years I have visited many historical locations as an experience guide.

The forest paths around Kaprijke are narrow, winding paths that meander through the forest. As you walk along the forest paths, you will pass small streams, open spaces in the forest and quiet corners where you are often alone.
