In 1762, Abbot De Stoop had a small country house and chapel built on the 'eilandje' or 'bouwke'. It serves as a residence for the forest supervisor and as a country retreat for the monks. The country house no longer exists, but the moat that surrounds the 'island' is still there. All information can be found on the posted information boards.

Memorial in honor of the making and heroic defense of a bridgehead on October 21 and 22, 1918 by the Belgian carabiniers cyclists called the "Black Devils". The Rapenbrug over the Schipdonk Canal was destroyed in 1918. A second destruction followed during the Second World War. The current bridge is an iron drawbridge, rebuilt in 1947 together with the Celiebrug in Adegem, located further on.
