The Antwerp Harbour Master's Office, also known as the Havenhuis (the harbour house), is an architectural structure established in the port of Antwerp. Built in 1922 as a fire station on Siberiastraat to the plans of the architect Emiel Van Averbeke, then listed1, a building was built on top in the 2010s and inaugurated in 2016, to the plans of the architect Zaha Hadid, who died the same year, the square located at the foot of the building is named in her honour Zaha Hadidplein. The extension represents six thousand square metres, four levels, one hundred and five metres long and one thousand five hundred tonnes. The work lasted four years. Five hundred employees are grouped together. The whole thus constituted is described as a "striking discrepancy between the ultra-modernity of a structure using innovative engineering and the preservation of a historic building".
