This church is centrally located on the village square. The building is predominantly Classicist in style (away from Rococo and Baroque), only the choir is Gothic. After a fire around 1582, the church was rebuilt in 1607-1608. In 1773 the nave was widened by 3 m and lengthened by 3.5 m according to a plan by brother architect Philip Gobert. The interior of the church was brightened up with two paintings: "The Assumption of Mary" from 1718 and "The Four Evangelists" from 1855 by Jan Baptist Huysmans. The organ by P-J Vereecken from Gijzegem dates from 1881, the pulpit from 1888. The patron saint, Saint Denis, is invoked against headaches. The statue of Dionysius (Denijs) was a gift in 1749 from the marquis family de Bette. In early 2000, major restoration and repair works were started on the church. With the Marian Year (1954: 3rd part of the "Messages of Mary") a Lourdes cave was built. The city council gave its permission to build the cave on the grounds of the presbytery. For the construction of the cave, 25,000 kg of rock was brought from Spontin to Impe. On October 24, 1954, the cave was opened by E.H.
