The origin of the word 'Jaagpad' is hard work. Along the shore where we now walk or cycle recreationally, a strip used to be provided for ship hunting. This heavy work was carried out by humans or animals. The perfect combination was horse and donkey. To make the hard labor more bearable, trees were planted to provide shade strips above the 'Towpath'. From this shadowy ribbon we can benefit today... Enjoy the towpath, but know that the towpath is there for everyone. Be courteous to each other. Perhaps young, up-and-coming cycling talent will pass by here on their first cycling lesson... It would be a shame if he/she got the fright of their lives here while practicing.
