At all access points (gates) to the Kalmthoutse Heide, as well as elsewhere, there are clear information signs. Routes are color-coded and marked with signs along the route.

The sheep walking route passes a special statue. It is The Heroine, a work of art in memory of the women who smuggled food and messages across the border between Belgium and the Netherlands during the First World War. The smuggling route went where the Border Park is now.
