The church was originally built as a fortified church by farmers from Meesig after the Thirty Years' War. It was first documented in 1255 and originally belonged to the Verchen Monastery before being reintegrated into the Verchen parish.

The manor house dominates the village's single-family residential area. It is an extremely solidly constructed three-winged structure, built in 1698/98 by Joachim von Parsenow on much older foundations. The Alt Plestlin manor house is located northeast of the village, directly on the lowlands of the Peene Valley. Built around 1850 on the foundations of an older building, this two-story building with a basement and hipped roof is visible from the Peene River, especially during the sparsely planted season. The late-Classical plastered building features three-story central projections on the courtyard and park sides. The original pilasters are now missing, as is a balcony with a wrought-iron railing that once stood on the park side. The ballroom inside still retains a finely detailed stucco ceiling from the time of construction.

A very interesting castle, built in the middle of the 19th century. Unfortunately only visible from the street - private property. The owner breeds sport horses here.

Demmin is an underrated small town. A detour is highly recommended for anyone travelling through Mecklenburg Switzerland. From the north, the town is practically the gateway to this region. During and after World War II, the town's citizens had to endure a lot of destruction. Despite this, enough substance and structure has been preserved and has been maintained in recent years to give an idea of how rich the town is in culture and history. The old warehouses at the port on the Peene River are examples of this and are a fantastic feature of the townscape. The same applies to the church and the medieval parcelling of the town centre.
