The work is based on the Artemision bronze statue (c. 460 BC), recovered from a shipwreck off the Greek coast. To this day, it remains unclear whether the original statue depicts Zeus (with lightning bolt) or Poseidon (with trident). Therefore, both names are used. Xu Zhen added lacquered Peking ducks to the statue's arms. This creates an ironic clash between Eastern and Western culture, a typical theme in his work. The ducks resemble doves, but upon closer inspection, they reveal a subtle cultural nod.

The sculpture "De l'amour" in De Haan is a bronze sculpture by artist Linde Ergo, located on the Zeedijk. It was brought to the coast in 2021 for the Sculptures@Sea project and permanently donated to the municipality in 2024.

The 2.2-hectare La Potinière estate is the green lung of the municipality. This child-friendly city park offers numerous recreational opportunities: three tennis courts, a mini-golf course, a lawn, two playgrounds, a pétanque court, and a central multifunctional pavilion with a cafeteria.

The Zandpanne Nature Reserve is a valuable dune area between Wenduine and De Haan, known for its variety of dune forests, open dunes and moist dune valleys.

The old lock between the Bruges-Ostend Canal and the Blankenberge Canal is currently undergoing a thorough renovation. After the renovation, this lock will once again play a vital role in the water management of the Uitkerkse polders.
