1867년 4월 5일 금요일, 스플레테렌 다리가 공식적으로 개통되었습니다. 모어베커와 로케렌 사이에서 기차는 다크남과 엑사르데에 정차했습니다. 모어베커에서는 여행자들이 젤자테 또는 신트-길리스-바스 방향의 77번 철도로 갈아탈 수 있었습니다. 9km 길이의 철도를 언젠가 두 개의 선로로 확장할 계획이었다는 것은 스플레테렌 다리에서 여전히 볼 수 있습니다. 실제로 두 다리 받침대는 다리 자체보다 두 배 넓습니다. 하지만 그런 일은 결코 일어나지 않았습니다. 오히려 그 반대였습니다. 두 차례의 세계 대전 동안 철도는 피해를 입었고, 이로 인해 몇 달 동안 운행이 중단되었습니다. 예를 들어, 후퇴하는 독일 병사들은 제1차 세계 대전 말에 다리를 폭파했습니다. 휴전 후 1년도 채 되지 않은 1919년 9월에 노선은 이미 복구되었고 기차는 다시 이 구간을 운행할 수 있었습니다. 1940년에는 벨기에군이 다리를 파괴하여 독일군의 진격을 늦추려고 했습니다. 다리는 다시 복구되었습니다. 1971년에 마지막 기차가 이 구간을 지나갔습니다. 100년이 넘는 철도 운행 후 선로가 철거되었고, 이 구간은 로케렌에서 모어베커까지 자전거 및 도보 도로로 재정비되었습니다. 스플레테렌 다리 자체는 보존되어 2017년에 복원되었습니다. 일곱 겹의 페인트가 제거되었고 다리는 원래의 짙은 회색을 되찾았습니다. 출처: industriecultuur.be
