The landing stage for one of these ferries is located along Dijkweg in Afsnee, near the St. John the Baptist Church on the right bank. A crossing is definitely worth the effort, as not only the Afsnee church but also the rectory and the village itself are protected gems. Further on, towards Sint-Denijs-Westrem and Sint-Martens-Latem, there are numerous hiking and cycling opportunities.

The square is dominated by the impressive town hall, a masterpiece of Brabantine late Gothic built between 1526 and 1536. Around the square you will find beautiful historic buildings, cozy cafés and restaurants, and a vibrant atmosphere that forms the heart of the city. The square is also a place where events and markets are regularly held, such as the weekly market and special festivities such as the Adriaen Brouwer Beer Festival. It is a meeting place for both locals and visitors and offers beautiful views of the surrounding architecture, including the St. Walburga Church.

Nice place for a stop on a terrace

Market square worth seeing, beautiful town hall, many beautiful houses and several restaurants. Cars are a bit of a nuisance.
