3월 2, 2025, Palazzo Pubblico (Public Palace)
The Palazzo Pubblico (‘Public Palace’) is the city hall of the City of San Marino. It is where official state ceremonies take place, and it is the seat of the Republic's main institutional and administrative bodies: the Captains Regent, the Grand and General Council, the Council of XII, and the Congress of State. The main section of the building is topped by battlements over a series of corbels. The clock tower above also features such an arrangement with battlements and corbels. The overall design is similar to the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, but on a much smaller scale. Located on the site of an ancient building called the Domus Magna Comunis, the current building was designed by the Roman architect Francesco Azzurri and was built between 1884 and 1894. Following a century of minimal alteration, concerns over the structure's safety and functionality warranted a complex restoration project.

The Basilica di San Marino is the most important church in San Marino. It is dedicated to Marinus, the country's patron saint, and was built between 1826 and 1838 on the foundations of the original parish church. It is characterized by the neoclassical style and was built according to the plans of the architect Antonio Serra. It was inaugurated in 1855 and elevated to a minor basilica by Pope Pius XI in 1926. This is a special honorary title that the Pope gives to an important church. There are only around 1,500 churches in the world that bear this title. Over 500 of them are in Italy alone. The nave features the same supporting pillars as the entrance area. The vault is decorated with pastel-colored paintings. This is where the main altar is located. There are side altars on both sides of the main nave. The church contains many valuable statues and paintings, such as a statue of Saint Marinus created by Adamo Tadolini, Casanova's favorite student. It forms the center of the altar. Under the altar lies an urn with relics of the patron saint. The skull of Saint Marinus is also kept here. Interesting paintings by Titian's students make a visit to the basilica an art experience. On August 29, 1982, Pope John Paul II visited the basilica. https://www.europe-sightseeing.com/san-marino/Basilika-di-San-Marino.html

The unreservedly recommendable series "Treasures of the World - Heritage of Mankind" documents UNESCO World Heritage Sites in short (15-minute) films. Palazzo Pubblicco, the government palace, dominates the square. In front of the entrance there are guards in their traditional and colorful clothes. The regular changing of the guard, which is carried out with a lot of primborium, is impressive. If there is no government day, it is even possible to visit the government building.

San Marino is considered the oldest republic in the world and is surrounded by Italy on its border. The old town is perched on a rocky ridge of Monte Titano. The location is extraordinarily spectacular. It is not for nothing that San Marino's old town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Narrow streets, old houses, impressive buildings and of course the three striking towers decorate the old town.
