The Protestant St. Catherine's Church was built in 1318 and is one of the oldest religious buildings on the island. It is a so-called wayside church based on the Swedish model, which is open to visitors during the day between April and October. For such a small village, the building and tower are quite massive, or let's say imposing. In 1616, the tower was given the "Welsche Haube" (Italian hood), which still defines its striking appearance today and is noticeable even from afar. A particularly beautiful celebration took place in May 2016, when the original three-bell chime was restored after 99 years. Two new bells, made possible by generous donations from residents and the community, were ceremoniously presented and put into operation with a carriage ride through the districts. Since then, the midday bell has rung every day at 12 noon sharp.

Great bike ride with my wife. Between Trent, Fressen and Grosow we avoided the road. Just a little tip here, wider tires are an advantage because there are some sandy paths to conquer and I even had to push once. We drove back about 4km on the road.
