The asphalt of the coastal road is in very bad condition in places and you have to keep a close eye on it to avoid ending up in a pothole, but it's still fun, especially because there is almost no traffic, at least in winter. Short sections have been given new asphalt 👍

Beautiful place, especially in the dunes, clean sea, the scent of the Mediterranean scrub, wild rosemary and other plants.

The Chapel of the Madonna di Campomarino is a small church located on a hill near the Capoccia Scorcialupi beach. It is dedicated to the Madonna dell'Altomare, protector of fishermen and seafarers, and was built on the ruins of an ancient pagan temple. From the hill you have a beautiful view of the sea and the surrounding landscape.

Campomarino di Maruggio, located on the Ionian coast, is a very popular seaside resort in the summer for its crystalline sea and its sandy beaches and dunes. There is a marina, a 15th century watchtower and a church dedicated to Maria Santissima Assunta. It's a great place to take a break and refresh yourself.

Great bike path right by the sea. Fantastic views of the water. The asphalt is mostly in good condition, even for road bikes. The local cycling community meets here for rides on weekends. Especially on weekends and at lunchtime, there's very little traffic 👍 The asphalt has recently been renewed (as of March 2026). It's now a really smooth ride 👍

Great race track right by the sea. The road runs directly along the sea for many kilometers. The asphalt is mostly easy to ride, even for racing bikes. Especially on weekends, the local cycling scene meets here for a ride. Traffic is also limited. Especially on weekends and between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., when it's lunchtime, there's really little going on 👍

The signage is unclear. The road in front of the tower leaves the coast road in the direction of Torricella but also of Sava, Maruggio and Monacizzo
