A dreadful promenade. The green spaces on both sides reek of feces, and there's litter everywhere. People sitting there harass pedestrians. This is definitely not a highlight for Taranto.

The fountain in the center of Piazza Ebalia, dedicated to the winds that blow in Taranto, was inaugurated in 1953.

Beautiful panoramic viewpoint. It gets very crowded in the summer, and you have to zigzag through the crowds to complete your run. In the fall, you can enjoy spectacular sunsets while running.

The origins of the fortress of Taranto date back to Byzantine times. The current appearance of the complex dates back to Ferdinand of Aragon, who had the outdated castle converted into a modern fortress at the end of the 15th century. The fortifications were further reinforced by the Spanish in the 16th century. At the end of the 19th century, the Aragonese Castle passed to the Italian Navy, which still owns the complex today.

Taranto's old town lies on an island between the Mare Piccolo and Mare Grande, connected to the mainland by only two bridges. Many people here still make their living from fishing and the oyster beds of the Mare Piccolo. The sea is present everywhere, even in the paintings of street artists.

Taranto's Parco della Musica, located in the former Baraccamenti Cattolica area on Via Di Palma, is a vibrant hub in the heart of the Borgo Umbertino district. Inaugurated on March 8, 2024, this space has undergone significant urban redevelopment, transforming a previously abandoned area into a vibrant hub dedicated to culture, art, and technological innovation. The park offers a large plaza, ideal for cultural and social events, and houses restored facilities including exhibition spaces, performance areas, and innovation zones. Among the initiatives is the "Calliope – House of Emerging Technologies" project, an innovation hub promoting One Health research, recognizing the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health.
