The Palladian Basilica is the symbolic building of Vicenza. Known for the Serliane Loggia, designed by the great architect Andrea Palladio, which surrounds the medieval Palazzo della Ragione, it was included in the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1994. Between 2007 and 2012, the basilica was the subject of a complex and detailed architectural, functional and plant restoration intervention thanks to the fundamental contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Verona Vicenza Belluno and Ancona Foundation. It was reopened on October 5, 2012 to coincide with the opening of the major exhibition "Raphael towards Picasso. Stories about looks, faces and figures". On May 9, 2014, the Palladian Basilica became a National Monument thanks to the bill approved under deliberation by the Senate Culture Committee on March 27, 2014. On May 5, 2014, the "Union Prize" was awarded to the restoration of the Palladian Basilica in Vienna European Union for Cultural Heritage - Europa Nostra 2014 Competition for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage. A very nice place, in the middle of the historic center of the beautiful and small town of Vincenza. The rectangular square with a beautiful basilica and the Bissara tower on the longer side. You can also find delicious options for eating and drinking here, around the square too😍
