It's a very beautiful castle but there are no shops so I recommend it as a short stop for a little climb

Named after General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, the large bridge over the Serchio, Strada Statale 12 del Brennero var. B connects the right bank (San Lorenzo di Moriano, San Cassiano di Moriano) with the left bank, the one that overlooks Marlia and the hills famous for the numerous noble villas. Be careful at the roundabout on the Marlia side, very large and busy.

Lucca is completely surrounded by a city wall. Only a few entrance gates lead into the city. Even a short walk on the city wall is worthwhile!👍

A Pisan municipality of about 5,500 inhabitants, Buti is located east of the peak of Monte Pisano and to the north borders with Capannori and the province of Lucca. It seems that the name derives from the late Latin "bucita", or "ox pasture". Of particular interest here, in addition to the historic center, is the Villa Medicea.

Porta Sant'Anna, officially known as Porta Vittorio Emanuele, is one of the gates in the walls of Lucca – popularly known by locals as the "hole" of Sant'Anna, after the fault of the same name. The gate was opened in 1910 to serve the essential motorized traffic in the essential part of the city, which caused the Baluardo (bulwark) San Donato, erected in the 17th century for defensive purposes, to no longer be fit for the task. It was therefore decided that the new entrance would have two arches, in line with the enlarged via Vittorio Emanuele, which would replace the Via di San Paolino as the main essential artery. In order not to spoil the view of San Donato, a favour was wisely granted to two fairly simple carriageways (instead of a superstructure) flanked by two pedestrian passages under the bull that separates the shoe from the parapet of the wall, thus keeping the continuity intact. In the middle of the gate, between the two central doorways, the marble coat of arms of the city can be seen. The arches that divide the compartment, made in the thickness of the walls, are made of exposed brick.
