From April to November, the Hirzer cable cars depart from the picturesque village of Saltusio at an altitude of 1,980 m. In just a few minutes, two cable cars cover 1,490 meters of altitude.

The panoramic platform over Dorf Tirol On the Hochmuth below the Steinegg inn there is a viewing platform that offers a wide view over Merano, the Etschtal and the surrounding mountains. There are 2 telescopes on the platform that provide information about the visible mountains and the former cultivation of the steep fields of the Muthöfe. The platform represents a stylized carrying basket. The construction draws attention to the arduous, historical cultivation of the fields on the steep slopes of the Muthöfe, where baskets of earth and manure were pulled up the fields with the help of cable winches in order to make them arable again.

With the Hirzer cable car you reach a plateau with plenty of hiking trails in an alpine landscape and the most beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Do you want more? For example, the Hirzer is a worthwhile destination at almost 2,800 meters.

The Gasthaus Steinegg is located in a panoramic position above the mountain station of the Hochmuthbahn. The city of Meran and its neighboring towns of Tirolo and Schenna are at your feet 😉

Directly behind / in front of the mountain station of the Taser cable car are these curved comfort loungers on the Taser Höhenweg where you can spend the waiting time for the cable car or just enjoy the wonderful view. It takes luck to get a spot here, so you should also be considerate of the following hikers and not exceed the rest times ;-)

A beautiful natural area extends from the mountain railway with a variety of hiking opportunities. No matter whether it's the mountain tour to Iffinger, a ridge hike to the Kreuzjöchl or a circular tour over the Maiser or Moschwaldalm. There are a variety of tours for everyone. I recommend an early start, as it is quite crowded up here, especially at lunchtime, as many people take the short route to the nearby mountain pastures.
