A memorial to ancient times, the surrounding area has recently been redeveloped, making it more pleasant to walk/cycle there.

An imposing bronze statue dedicated to the legendary Gleaner of Sapri, the protagonist of Luigi Mercantini's famous poem. It depicts the young peasant girl who, according to the poem, witnessed Carlo Pisacane's ill-fated expedition in 1857. Located on the Sapri seafront, the statue overlooks the Gulf of Policastro and offers a spectacular panoramic view, a symbol of freedom and historical memory.

The Spigolatrice of Sapri is the protagonist of the homonymous poem by Luigi Mercantini. The poem is inspired by Carlo Pisacane's failed Sapri expedition (1857) with which he wanted to trigger an anti-Bourbon revolution in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

Hotel del Sole al Plebiscito is a centrally located hotel in the old town of Sapri. The building dates from the mid-17th century and still retains its original architectural features. Inside the bar room, which was the manor's old oil mill, you can still see the old stone mill and the other equipment for the oil press. The hotel consists of 9 suites in Mediterranean colors and each one evokes the beautiful corners nearby (Sole, Riva Blu, Punta Infreschi, Clear Sea, Green Gulf, Blue Sky, Luna Saprese, Confetti Beach and Spigolatrice). It also has a centenary typical Cilento garden, a real marvel of colors, scents and sensations, ideal stage for theatrical and musical performances. A very well run house, now with an elevator. Spacious apartments leave nothing to be desired. Unfortunately there is no restaurant at the moment due to a lack of employees. Breakfast can be taken in the nearby café on the piazza.

Sapri is bordered by wide pebble beaches. Although these are not the most beautiful beaches to be found on the Cilento coast, the water is clear. A variety of fish offer an interesting underwater world for divers and snorkelers.

Every year, in the month of August, the historical re-enactment of Carlo Pisacane's landing takes place here. The "Three hundred" from the poem of Luigi Mercantini's Spigolatrice are remembered: "They were three hundred, were young and strong and are dead."

The sculpture pays homage to La Spigolatrice di Sapri, an 1857 poem by Luigi Mercantini. The bronze statue of a woman in a transparent dress is described by many as "sexist". Some even call for them to be dismantled.
