Located on the homonymous hill, at 505 m a.s.l. The first documentary evidence of the church is from 1438, but the current forms are from the eighteenth century. It is currently dedicated to Maria Regina Angelorum, to San Grato (protector from storms) and to San Maffeo (due to an erroneous interpretation of the ancient spelling of the name Matteo). From the hill you can enjoy a very beautiful panorama.

The San Maffeo tower is located on the hill of the same name in the municipality of Rodero at 505 m a.s.l., reachable along the border path 400/700. The mighty work, of uncertain foundation, belonged to a coordinated and strategic system of lookout points that linked the hills between Lario, Ceresio and Verbano. The panorama enjoyed from this position is remarkable, reflecting the military function that allowed to control the Lanza or Valmorea Valley to the south, the villages of Rodero, Cagno, Malnate, Solbiate, Binago and the current Canton of Ticino to the north. , the Muggiò Valley, Monte Generoso and even a small portion of Lake Lugano.

The Valmorea railway was an international railway line managed by the Ferrovie Nord Milano which at its maximum extension connected Castellanza, in the province of Varese, to Mendrisio, in the Canton of Ticino. Progressively weakened and decommissioned by 1977, it was partially reactivated in the early years of the third millennium, limited to the Malnate Olona-Mendrisio section, in order to operate episodic tourist services with steam traction.
