The Ossuary of Custoza, in the picturesque town of Sommacampagna, Italy, is a remarkable site that pays tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives during the Italian Wars of Independence. The Scaligero Castle of Villafranca di Verona is a castle of medieval origin. Inside the walls there are seven small towers called "Torresine" and two shielded towers, that is with only 3 edges. The largest or clock tower has stones with an inscription at its base and it is assumed that they came from an arch (or other building) dedicated to the emperor Tiberius. A curious peculiarity of the Scaligero Castle of Villafranca is that the battlements of the actual walls are of Guelph or flat shape, while the battlements of the keep and the shielded towers are of Ghibelline or "dovetail" shape.
