이 빌라는 원래 만토바의 곤차가 가문에 속했으며 여러 역사적인 전투에서 전략적 요충지였습니다. 오스트리아군은 1796년 8월 5일 카스틸리오네 전투에서 나폴레옹 보나파르트와 맞서 싸우면서 이곳에 본부를 설치했습니다. 1859년 6월 24일 솔페리노와 산 마르티노 전투에서 승리한 후, 나폴레옹 3세가 이 빌라에 머물렀습니다.
