Pleasant. Be very careful when cutting through the woods or taking the short route. The gentlest route, starting from Rasa keeping to the right, is suitable for practically everyone.

Monte San Giorgio is a wonderful 1097 m peak located in the Mendrisiotto area. From the top you can perfectly observe the entire Ceresio area and the city of Lugano, a true marvel.

On Monte San Giorgio you will find yourself in a bivouac where you can stay sheltered, there are drinks and water inside the bivouac, which are not free! There is a box where you can leave money for what you take.

A 1032m mountain well known among hikers and MTBikers. It can be reached via a loose dirt road which requires a good bike such as a gravel or a touring/trekking bike well equipped with excellent dirt tyres, otherwise it is better to avoid it. On its side there is a former porphyry quarry, the woods and the view certainly repay the challenge of the climb.

From the summit I recommend taking the path back to Ghirla. The other descent can only be managed with a touring bike by descending. At least for me.

The Poncione cross Built in 1914, at the behest of Don Enrico Borghi, it remains next to the Grotto of Lourdes facing the abbey of Ganna until it is transported by about fifteen volunteers to the summit of Mount Poncione and inaugurated on April 4, 1954. On 1 January 2014, on the occasion of its centenary, at the behest of the ON association, it was illuminated with an alternative energy project. Its light has protected all who look upon it ever since, giving hope and energy to the entire community. In 2022 the volunteers intervened with a new lighting project and replacement of the external screens

From the classic ascent to the Martica, there are 2 possibilities to reach the summit. Either from the trail, continuing the ascent to the last hairpin bend, or at the crossroads with the low mine trail. Always pushing or portage. Personally I prefer the second, steeper but shorter.
