The Neuruppin Water Tower is a striking landmark of the city – once the technical heart of the water supply, today a place for adventure and panoramic views. Built in the late 19th century, the tower originally served the city's water supply. Standing approximately 50 meters tall and featuring typical brick architecture, it is an impressive example of the engineering structures of the Gründerzeit (late 19th-century boom period). Theodor Fontane's birthplace at Karl-Marx-Straße 84 is a magical place. The acquisition of a pharmacy lured Louis Henri and Emilie Fontane from Berlin to Neuruppin in 1819. The family's apartment was on the first floor. Theodor Fontane was born here on December 30, 1819.
