11월 3, 2023, Anfiteatro Romano
It is worth mentioning here that the best-preserved Roman amphitheater, surpassing even the Flavian Roman amphitheater in this respect, is the amphitheater located in eastern Tunisia, in El Jem. It is the most spectacular Roman building in North Africa.

10월 31, 2023, Porta Napoli
The first triumphal arches in the shape of a monumental, free-standing gate (most often erected to commemorate a military victory or honor an outstanding personage) were built in ancient Rome. The concept of such buildings was taken over by the Romans from the Etruscans, a people who lived in northern Italy in ancient times.

Palazzo Palmieri, today consisting of about fifty perfectly restored rooms, became famous primarily for the fact that within its walls Giovanni Boccaccio wrote 'Il Decamerone' (a literary work which, incidentally, was included in the 'Index of Forbidden Books' in 1559).

9월 28, 2023, Basilica di Santa Croce
This church, which is dedicated to the Holy Cross (Latin “Santa Croce”), draws its patronage from the cross on which Jesus Christ died. The veneration of the Holy Cross goes back to a large extent to Saint Helena, who was the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great (who recognized Christianity as a religion after his victory at the “Milvian Bridge” in front of Rome and in the year 312 for a long time the persecution ended with the “tolerance edict” of Milan). In the early fourth century she undertook a pilgrimage to the Holy Land (Israel / Palestine) and from there brought numerous relics with her to Europe, including the "True Cross" on which Jesus Christ was crucified. Helena is therefore often depicted with a cross as an attribute. The church celebrates the festival of the discovery, public presentation and veneration of the Holy Cross – called “Exaltation of the Cross” – on September 14th.

The cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is the mother church of Lecce and the seat of the archbishop. It was built in the 12th century in Romanesque style and then rebuilt in the 17th century in Lecce Baroque style by the architect Giuseppe Zimbalo. It has two facades: a main one, sober and elegant, and a side one, rich and scenographic, which overlooks the Piazza del Duomo. The bell tower, 70 meters high, is considered the symbol of the city.

6월 8, 2023, Anfiteatro Romano
The amphitheater bears witness to the importance that Lecce reached in Roman times. Although there is no certainty about the dating of this work, the most accredited theses attribute it to the will of the emperor Augustus (1st and 2nd century after Christ). Over the centuries the different dominations and natural events have drastically changed the appearance of this part of the city until the Roman structure has completely disappeared. It was only during the construction of the Banca d'Italia headquarters, which took place in the early years of the 20th century, that the first remains of this work came to light. The part visible today is only a third of the original structure, which could accommodate up to 25,000 people, the rest is still buried under the pavement of Piazza Sant'Oronzo.

6월 8, 2023, Castello di Lecce
The castle of Lecce, also known as the Castle of Charles V, is a fortress located in the historic center of the city built in the 12th century as the residence of the counts of Lecce. In the 16th century, the emperor Charles V ordered a restructuring of the castle to adapt it to the new defensive and symbolic needs. The castle thus assumed its current form, with four corner bastions and a wall that incorporated the previous medieval structure.
