The Umbrian pilgrimage site of Assisi has produced two important personalities: “Santa CHIARA” also deserves to be honored alongside “San FRANCESCO”. She lived at the same time as Francis: Clara was born in (or around) 1193 and died in 1253. Her general memorial day in the calendar of saints is the day of her death on August 11th for all major Christian denominations, but there are also regional or order-specific memorial days. It is worth mentioning here that the best-preserved Roman amphitheater, surpassing even the Flavian Roman amphitheater in this respect, is the amphitheater located in eastern Tunisia, in El Jem. It is the most spectacular Roman building in North Africa.

The bell tower is considered the best viewing point in Lecce. You go to the top by elevator. From there you can admire the panorama of the city and the Adriatic Sea, and on sunny and clear days you can even see the mountains in Albania.
