The island of Magdalena is very beautiful 👍

If you don't have time to go to the island of Maddalena, you should at least enjoy the magnificent view from the rest area on the panoramic road above Palau.

The Costa Smeralda in Sardinia is a must-see. There's so much to see, from beautiful houses to magnificent bays to eroded cliffs.

The ferry runs every half hour during the day between Palau and La Maddalena. Simply drive on, hand over your deposit (ID) when you get on, pay on board at the ticket office above the parking deck (and then return the deposit there). Not exactly cheap (car including 3 adults and 1 child = €58 return), but on La Maddalena we were even able to explore the whole island including remote beaches with a rental car.

San Pantaleo (SS), the magical place in the heart of the Costa Smeralda (Olbia) A small jewel in the immediate hinterland of the Costa Smeralda: this is San Pantaleo, the characteristic place that lies high on the granite rock formations of the Gallura. The town was built at the beginning of the 19th century around a small country church and is now part of Olbia. A place that is proud of its traditions and its uniqueness. A place beyond time that welcomes visitors with the warm hospitality of its inhabitants and with a simplicity that is now rarely found: between the skilfully restored small houses you can see the artisans' shops and the artists' studios. In the central square with its white flowering oleander bushes you can hear the voices of children, drowned out by the impressive Thursday market. The majestic granite frame offers a wonderful tranquility that has little to do with the frenetic atmosphere of the Costa Smeralda. This panoramic road surrounds the Bay of Cannigione. A beautiful stretch where on one side you can see the sparkling sea and on the other the green countryside.

This point offers a view of the many boats on the Costa Smeralda. Every year, in fact, the port welcomes many elegant yachts that are worth seeing.
