In spring, the 20 species of orchids bloom which can be visited by following the path from the visitor center that leads to the orchid garden.

Porto Empedocle is one of the most famous cities in the Agrigento area. It was the birthplace of Pirandello, it is the place where Camilleri's yellow novels starring Inspector Montalbano are set and it is very famous for the Scala dei Turchi, a formation of white marl overlooking the sea not far from the town.

The viewpoint along the road is one of the best points for observing the Scala dei Turchi. However, if you have time, go down to the beach and enjoy this wonder.
