Municipality of around 3,000 inhabitants located in the southern area of the Madonie park, Polizzi Generosa is known for the sfoglio, a typical dessert invented in the 16th century by the Benedictine nuns in honor of the feast of San Benedetto, and for being the only municipality in the area to boast specimens of fir trees.
