From this point, you can enjoy a pleasant view of the small harbor and the 12th-century Tower of San Nicola l'Arena. The tower once served to defend a tuna fishery from pirate attacks.

The Church of the Most Holy Crucifix in Santa Maria di Licodia is the most important church in the city and plays an important role in religious life. It has ancient (Byzantine and medieval) origins and was originally dedicated to Saint Mary.

Further down (towards Palermo) the road is closed (as of autumn 2024). But the view is spectacular.

Since 2021, the road has been closed from this point and several hundred metres further down due to a massive rockfall. Despite protests from the local population, there is currently no sign of the road being cleared or repaired. To get to Palermo you have to take a long diversions (approx. 15 kilometres). Apparently no further safety measures have been taken, so it is not advisable to avoid the closure. Nevertheless, you have a fantastic and quiet view from the sections above.
