I included in the tour a visit to the Castle which was open on the occasion of the FAI days

Driving along the dirt road of Via di Riva Bianca, you have beautiful views of the hills around the town of Coriano.

Remains of an imposing medieval castle, belonging first to the Carpegna family and then to the Malatesta. The well-preserved entrance on the drawbridge is very suggestive. Incredible that you can access it for free!

World War II shelters

Already mentioned in 1233, the village of Albereto was strengthened by Sigismondo Malatesta around the mid-fifteenth century, with the construction of the city walls according to the canons of the typical "Malatesta escarpment", completed by the three strong circular towers, the bell tower and the viewing terrace from which you can enjoy the panorama of the entire Rimini coast.

Interesting to see, it's not clear to me if they were military posts or for civilians. In shelter 2 there is stagnant water

The church of Santa Maria Assunta is the parish church of Coriano, in the province and diocese of Rimini it is part of the vicariate of Valconca.

MALATESTA CASTLE OF CORIANO Coriano with its fortification stands in an isolated place. Coriano was a fortified center documented as early as the end of the 12th century, equipped with its own magistracies, with a large territory, located on a slight hill (102 meters above sea level), from which you can still enjoy the view of its vast and delightful panorama immersed in the nature of the Romagna hinterland. The castle or castrum is a rather particular fortification, in fact it is not a fortress built for exclusively military or residential use for a single lord, but it does not even have the dimensions of a fortified town. The castle structure, of which the imposing ruins remain on a natural rise, is located outside the current modern inhabited center.
