The Sillianer Hütte marks both the start and end point of the Carnic High Route 403, also known as the Peace Trail or Via della Pace. It also serves as an important base for several long-distance hiking trails, including the Austrian Southern Alpine Long-Distance Trail No. 03 (Sillian–Karawanken–Radkersburg), the European Long-Distance Trail E10, and the Via Alpina. In addition to its function as a base for long-distance hikers, the hut is a popular destination for day-trippers—both vacationers and locals from the entire Hochpustertal Valley. Well-marked trails in the surrounding area lead to numerous worthwhile destinations, such as the Heimkehrerkreuz (2,273 m), the Helmgipfel (2,433 m), the Hornischeck (2,551 m), the Hollbrucker Eck (2,573 m), the Hochgränten war cemetery, and many other scenic spots.

The Talschlusshütte in the Fischleintal valley is located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, at an altitude of 1,548 m and at the entrance to the famous Drei Zinnen Nature Park. The Fondo Valle Refuge (Talschlusshuette) rises at 1,548 m above sea level, in the heart of the Val Fiscalina, surrounded by majestic peaks such as the Croda Rossa, the imposing Cima Una, the Sesto Sundial and the grandiose Punta Tre Scarperi. In 1993 it will be equipped with connections to the electricity line and to the sewer. On March 17, 2003 the old shelter was demolished. After only three months, on 21 June, the new Fondovalle Refuge was inaugurated. On 12 October of the same year will be celebrated with the 50th anniversary of a hotel which, in the meantime, has now become an integral part of the Val Fiscalina.
