Great clear water with beautiful reflections. Perfect for a break, but also quite popular. People like to cool off in the water here.

At the foot of the rugged, 3,000-meter-high Fanes peaks lies Lake Lagazuoi. This small, protected lake lies at approximately 2,180 meters above sea level in the protected area of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park and is traversed by the Dolomites High Trail No. 1.

Federa Lake, cradled in the heart of the Dolomites along the Alta Via n.1, is a shimmering gem that enchants hikers with its alpine beauty. Nestled amid towering peaks and rugged cliffs, the lake reflects the grandeur of the surrounding landscape. As you approach Federa Lake on the Alta Via n.1, the panorama unfolds, revealing the turquoise waters mirroring the rocky spires above. The air is crisp, carrying the scent of mountain flora, and the stillness is interrupted only by the occasional rustle of wildlife.

Cool lake in a beautiful landscape is a great place to relax before another climb.

Lake of glacial origin, 15 minutes from the ref. Coldai, an excellent place to have a picnic to rest and resume the journey towards the eventual Rifugio Tissi of a further 2h, where I recommend the high path on the scree because it is less tiring. (CAI path 560 variant of the Altavia)

The lake is worth visiting, it is located about 15 minutes from the ref. Coldai, deserves to make an extra effort to visit it. I recommend going past it, so as to see beyond the natural basin that forms the lake and see the valley.

Lake Federa is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Dolomites, surrounded by the welcoming presence of the Croda da Lago refuge. On windless days, you can admire the beautiful view of the structure which is perfectly reflected on the lake. It is worth making a stop at the refuge or spending time near the lake. There is a path that allows you to easily run around the lake to fully enjoy the view and breathe deeply in this enchanting place.
