After leaving the beautiful Lake Mis behind, the gorge narrows and the road gains a little height, passing through successive galleries and tunnels dug directly into the rock. It's a wonderful place that rivals the Sottoguda Gorge on the climb to Marmolada.

Highly recommended! I rode the route from the south towards the Dolomites on my racing bike. The reservoir shines a wonderful light green in the sunshine between the wooded slopes and the mountains. At the northern end you go through tunnels and the mountain stream that forms the inflow comes out. Good road conditions. Little and quiet traffic. I don't know how far you can drive by car or motorbike. The tunnels are definitely quite narrow. A must for cyclists, even racing bikes!

Orange flag of the Italian Touring Club, the village dominates the Val Belluna from the top of a hill. The historic center is valuable, so much so that Mel is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Palazzo Fulcis (17th century), Palazzo Fulcis (which housed the "Antico Albergo Cappello" from the 18th century), Palazzo Del Zotto (17th century) overlook the square. ), the Francescòn house (14th century), the Karera palace (Pivetta), built along the ancient feudal walls, which still retains the ancient gateway to the fortified village. The Town Hall (16th century) is adorned with a large portico with columns and surmounted by a turret with a clock. Inside there are frescoes by Giovanni da Mel (1545). The square is dominated by the eighteenth-century archpriest church, without a bell tower, which collapsed in a fire in the eighteenth century and was never rebuilt. Not far from the center there is an interesting archaeological area with an Iron Age necropolis, whose grave goods are exhibited in the Palazzo delle Contesse.

Lake Mis is part of the National Park of the Belluno Dolomites. The Mis valley is, in the upstream part, a spectacular canyon, with tunnels dug into the rock, overhangs on the Mis torrent, waterfalls, thick vegetation, always fresh air even in summer. You can visit the Soffia waterfall and the Cadini del Brentòn on foot. The village of Gena is very picturesque and the locality of California must be seen if only for the tragic history.
