Rodach was granted town rights in 1362. Around 1300, an urban settlement was established around the market square, which was surrounded by a city wall in 1386 and granted its own jurisdiction in 1425. This is a late medieval city wall tower with a half-timbered upper floor, a hipped roof, and a ridge turret. A very well-preserved piece of the former city wall fortifications with three gates and seven towers.

On the side of the town hall is the carillon, consisting of fifteen bells. These symbolize the 15 districts of Bad Rodach. The carillon symbolizes the unity of the town of Bad Rodach and commemorates the completion of the municipal reform in 1978. This declaration can be found beneath the carillon.

The first documented mention of the town hall dates back to a renovation in 1572. The previous building was destroyed in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War. The two-story, gable-roofed building with a curved gable façade and turret, which was essentially a half-timbered structure, was completed by 1664. The staircase was relocated inside in 1898.
