Collagù is a small cluster of houses with a Sanctuary immersed in the vineyards of the Prosecco Hills, surrounded by an atmosphere of peace and spirituality. Its name, of ancient origin, recalls the acute shape of the hill on which it stands. The heart of the village is the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Dolori, rebuilt in the 1930s on the remains of an ancient place of worship, perhaps from the Roman era. Today, with its small church and bell tower in neo-Romanesque style, Collagù offers a corner of silence and contemplation, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of vineyards and uncontaminated nature.

At the top of the hill is this small building. From here the view is not very clear, hidden by the vegetation, but since it is a passage it is worth a quick visit

On the hill of San Gallo, east of the church, stands the Monumento dell’Aviere: a stylised airplane wing in reinforced concrete surmounted by a bronze statue of the Madonna di Loreto, patron saint and protector of aviators. The monument was erected on the initiative of the Students of the Quartier del Piave Aeronautical Association on land donated to the Municipality of Farra di Soligo by the Rigamonti family. The view from the monument is spectacular at 360° and extends across the entire Quartier del Piave valley, beyond the Montello hill range with glimpses, on clear days, as far as the Venice Lagoon. To the east, north and west the panorama is a natural amphitheatre on the Treviso and Belluno Prealps.

The mill was built in 1630 and shortly afterwards accommodation for the caretaker family, a stable and a granary were added. It exploited the waters of the Lierza stream, the main tributary of the Soligo, at the foot of a 12-metre waterfall; it was decommissioned in 1953. At the end of the twentieth century, after experiencing years of degradation, the mill was purchased by the municipality of Refrontolo, which carried out a careful restoration and turned it into a milling museum as well as a venue for exhibitions, including in 2009, an important retrospective by the painter Angelo Lorenzon and, in winter, the annual International Nativity Exhibition. The first construction of a solid castle, for exclusive military use on the well-protected Collalto hill, dates back to the first half of the 12th century, with the erection of a mighty guard tower. It is the gigantic keep that still stands alone among the ruins of the fortified town, with that sad and chipped face, testimony to the passage of time and lived history.

The curious name derives from the sharp shape (colle acu-to) of the hill where, just below the summit, the sanctuary stands. The name is very ancient, attesting to settlements dating back to the Bronze Age. Since time immemorial, perhaps even on the ruins of a Roman altar, there has been a small sanctuary here, much frequented by pilgrims from the valley who venerated the "Madonna dei Dolori," culminating with the solemn procession on the second Sunday of November with the faithful departing from Soligo or Farra. People also climbed it to pray for a plentiful harvest. Between the 18th and 19th centuries, abandonment and ruin prevailed. In the 1930s, in fulfillment of a vow, the Bottari De Castello family built the small church and bell tower as we see them today, in a very dignified and tasteful neo-Romantic style, with a splendid fresco in the external portico. In 1932, the sacred complex was consecrated and the relics of Saint Emilio were placed there. All around, a riot of vineyards.

Here the noble family originated which extended its properties over much of the upper Treviso area and dominated the political scene of Treviso in the 1300s. A first document, a copy of the 1138 will of Count Alberto leaving for the Crusade in the Holy Land, testifies to the existence of a castle with church and village on the Collalto hill. Certainly, since the early 1100s a fortified center was built to guard the pass on the Piave river between Col di Guardia and Montello. Ensedisio I, Count of Treviso, was assigned the county where the noble family, probably of Lombard origin already present in Treviso since the 9th century, settled definitively. The Collaltos stood out for their ingenuity and courage. They dominated the military scene of the upper Treviso March of the 13th century, opposed by the other powerful feudal family: the Da Camino.
