Saint Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary—not attested in the biblical texts—and thus the grandmother of Jesus Christ. However, she is mentioned in apocryphal writings (meaning not included in the official canon of the Bible), such as the so-called "Protoevangelium of James." There is no historically verifiable information about Anne's life, but numerous accounts have been handed down, which are compiled, for example, in the medieval "Legenda Aurea" by the Dominican friar Jacobus de Voragine. Among many other places of worship—like this one—she is the patron saint of St. Anne's Church in Düren (North Rhine-Westphalia), where a piece of her skull has been kept and venerated as a relic since the early 16th century. In the liturgical calendar, the feast day of Saint Anne—together with her husband Joachim—is July 26.

Just outside Stockstadt, on the edge of the Oberwiese meadow, the St. Anna Chapel was rebuilt and consecrated in 2008. There are also several benches here that invite visitors to linger.

Here in the small park by the Main River cycle path stands this old fishing boat with an information panel. Benches invite you to linger.
