A remarkable breed of horse, the Black Forest Coldblood, which was almost extinct, can be seen in the form of a modern sculpture in front of the monastery church in St. Märgen. The close connection between the people of St. Märgen and the Black Forest Coldbloods is also evident in the Kapf Chapel. A themed trail also invites visitors to explore: St. Märgen and the Black Forest Coldblood Breeding During the annual Horse Festival in late summer, St. Märgen is dedicated to the distinctive Black Forest Coldbloods for three days.

I find this bronze horse really adorable. Because of its jagged mane, it's jokingly called a "dragon horse." Horse experts will recognize that this is not a replica of the Black Forest Fox, which is native to St. Märgen.

The mountain panorama here is truly stunning, and the wind turbines blend beautifully into the landscape. It's really cool how energy use and nature coexist so perfectly here. The climb from the Zweribach waterfalls is particularly impressive. Behind you, you've left behind the dark, rugged forest, and in front of you, lush meadows.
