Roseto degli Abruzzi is a town in the Italian region of Abruzzo in the province of Teramo. The municipality is wedged between the rivers Tordino and Vomano on the Adriatic Sea. The town has only had its current name since 1927, before that it was called Rosburgo, the nickname is Lido delle Rose. As a seaside resort, Roseto degli Abruzzi is of great importance to Abruzzo. The town has wide sandy beaches, a beautiful beach promenade and many shops, hotels and campsites. The municipality also includes Montepagano, which is located on a hill inland. Torre Cerrano is one of the ancient coastal towers of the Kingdom of Naples, located on the Adriatic coast, in the province of Teramo, between Silvi and Pineto. It is one of the few remaining intact examples of the dense network of coastal fortifications of the Kingdom of Naples, which had the function of repelling the frequent attacks of Turks and Saracens from the sea. Torre Cerrano, whose construction dates back to 1568, owes its name to the stream of the same name, which descends from the hills of Atri and whose mouth is located 500 meters south of the tower, in the municipality of Silvi. http://www.torredelcerrano.it/torre-di-cerrano.html
