Mt. Crocetta offers no view at the cross itself, 300 m up the ridge there is a place that invites you to take a break. I came from the Via Aureglia along the trail around the mountain and then drove about 150 m uphill to Mt. Crocetta. Experienced e-bikers can ride most things (dry), and it's even fun. Difficulty S2. Then take the path at the cross towards Moneglia. S2

Genoa Metropolitan CityToggle navigation                hospital ruins of san nicolao The remains of a Roman-era hospitale, active throughout the Middle Ages, which housed pilgrims and wayfarers until 1590 when it was destroyed by fire, are hidden within the vegetative mantle of Monte San Nicolao. Today it is the subject of numerous and important excavation campaigns and archaeological studies: in fact, the original layout of the building is still visible, attributable to the 12th and 13th centuries, in the shape of a cross, with three semicircular apses in the horizontal arm, side of the church that completed the construction. It is also possible to observe the remains of a small room, probably a tomb that housed a monk or a person who lived here.
