Locals call this water cave "Brechfelsen" (Break Rock). They probably call it this because in the spring (when there was a lot of meltwater due to the weather), water would "break" out of a crevice in an arc.

The Jesus figure is not visible from the direction of the Albverein hut. You either have to climb onto the rock to see it from behind or walk around the bottom of the rock.

A very well-maintained hut with outdoor facilities and a barbecue area. There are two benches nearby with beautiful views of the Schmeiental Valley.

The processing area extends over two administrative districts (Freiburg and Tübingen) and three rural districts (Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis, Tuttlingen district, Sigmaringen district) from the source of the Danube in Donaueschingen through the breakthrough valley to Sigmaringen, a total of 107 river kilometers.

House description The Naturfreundehaus »Donautal« is secluded on the left edge of the Danube valley, above Neidingen and 20 minutes from the well-known Schaufelsen group. This hiking and cycling trail follows the Danube to Passau. There is a lot to discover along the first stage of this trail, from Donaueschingen, the source of the Danube, to Sigmaringen. On the one hand, you follow the Danube on its first »steps« to Immendingen, where it disappears, but »recovers« again near Immendingen and breaks through the Jurassic rock. There are many viewpoints along the way, as well as old castles and castle ruins as well as monasteries. At the end of the first stage in Sigmaringen is the castle of a branch of the Hohenzollern family, which is open all year round. But the Danube valley edge trail is not the only option here. There are many hiking and cycling trails around Stetten am kalten Markt, where you can explore the surrounding area or go on day trips to Lake Constance or directly to the Swabian Alb.
