The well is one of the few things that remains intact among the ruins of the Visconti Castle and it is said that one of Bernabò Visconti's daughters was thrown into it by her father because of a forbidden love affair. The castle has a rather troubled history, Bernabò Visconti himself was killed there by his nephew Gian Galeazzo. Its strategic position made it the object of fierce disputes between Federico Barbarossa, the Viscontis, the Torrianis and the Colleonis, and then it was conquered by the Count of Carmagnola who began its demolition. The Alessandro Taccani hydroelectric power plant is a work of architectural art located in Trezzo sull'Adda, along the right bank of the Adda river. Founded by industrialist Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, the plant has been generating clean and sustainable energy for over a century. Every year, it produces around 60 million kilowatt hours, equivalent to the average annual consumption of 24 thousand families.
