The Royal Villa of Monza is a neoclassical style palace, designed by Giuseppe Piermarini, which has nothing to envy of the more noble palaces of Caserta and Versailles. Once a private residence of the Habsburgs and then of the Savoys, today it hosts exhibitions and exhibitions. A jewel of neoclassical architecture not to be missed during a visit to Monza.

The Royal Villa of Monza (Italian Villa Reale di Monza) is a classicist castle and former imperial residence of the Habsburgs.

The castle was built in 1777-1780 on behalf of the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa by the imperial master builder Giuseppe Piermarini. It served first her son, the Governor-General of Lombardy, Archduke Ferdinand Charles of Austria-Este next to the residence in Milan as a country estate (1780-1796). Later, it was, among other things, the main residence of the Napoleonic viceroy of Italy and together with the park a popular retreat of the Italian kings from 1861.

The park of Monza has a size of 688 ha and is located at the Royal Villa in the north of the city. He puts even the famous Central Park in New York in the shade, as the park is more than two and a half times bigger.
