The beach is picturesquely situated in the bay of Levanto. Depending on the wind, the waves can be quite strong, so you can watch surfers or even rent a board yourself...

There are two main areas: the long Fegina beach in the new town (west side) and a small pebble beach in the old town (near the harbor). Monterosso's sand is largely dominated by private beach clubs (bagni), but there are also free public sections.

A special feature of the village is the Gigante, a statue made of iron and cement representing Neptune and supporting a terrace. Located at the end of Fegina Beach, it was created in 1910 by Ariggo Minerbi of Ferrara in collaboration with the engineer Francesco Levacher. The statue is 14 meters high and weighs 170 tons. It originally belonged to Villa Pastine, built in the early 20th century, and was bombed along with the sculpture during World War II. In 1966, the giant was partially restored after a severe storm. Today, it is missing its trident and one leg.

There is a market here every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. where you can buy almost anything, from shoes to clothing, flowers and lingerie.

We were here in May when the temperature was a very pleasant 21 degrees. It's a nice, small, and quiet place that's certainly kept up with the times. There's a train station and a public parking lot. Beach, cafes, bars, hotels - everything is there on a small scale.
