The Catholic church in Steinweiler is not only a parish church, but also a place of pilgrimage. The Fourteen Holy Helpers are particularly venerated here, which is rather rare in the Palatinate. Immigrants from Franconia who settled in Steinweiler after the Thirty Years' War in the 17th century brought "their" Fourteen Helper traditions with them. So it is that to this day the Feast of the Helpers is celebrated on the third Sunday after Pentecost. Anyone who enters the church will see one of the emergency helpers in each of the windows. The Kreuzgasse in Steinweiler leads past the Protestant church and offers many spruced up half-timbered houses. On November 10, 968, Emperor Otto the Great issued a document in which he donated the Steinweiler farm in Speiergau to his wife Adelheid. The settlement was probably built around the year 600. The first mention of a church in Steinweiler comes from a document of Emperor Otto II from 982. This makes it one of the oldest churches in the southern Palatinate. In the 15th century it was rebuilt. The first two floors of the church tower bear witness to this. After Steinweiler burned down in 1622 during the Thirty Years' War, the church was rebuilt a year later.
