The size of the Fortress is impressive.

The Fortress of Civitella del Tronto, located 600 m. above sea level in a strategic position with respect to the old northern border of the Viceroyalty of Naples with the Papal State, it is one of the largest and most important military engineering works in Europe characterized by an elliptical shape with an extension of 25,000 m2 and a length of over 500 m . Also in the square, a sign indicates the Ruetta, the narrowest street in Italy. You go up a few steps and walk along a cobbled street in the heart of the village, when a crack appears in the wall of about 40cm: here is the small street (closed), where you slip in to take some photos.

Included in the "most beautiful villages in Italy", Civitella del Tronto is a small town in the province of Teramo perched on a plateau. Its perched position was strategic to escape the raids of the Saracens around the year 1000.
