Historic Marian sanctuary whose origins evoke events similar to the miracle of Loreto. Once an obligatory stop for transhumant shepherds, the church has been known in sources since 1324 but today appears as the result of a sixteenth-century restoration.

From here started the sheep track that reached the Adriatic in Puglia. The Transhumance of flocks is an intangible heritage of UNESCO. In these places, in early July, a large sheep farming fair takes place.

Fonte Vecchia (once called dei Cappuccini), a fountain located in a large open space adjacent to the old slaughterhouse and one of the old mills of Montorio. This fountain preserves a mask, surmounted by a shell, from which water for domestic use flows, as well as a washhouse and a drinking trough for animals.

Montorio al Vomano is a town located at the foot of the Gran Sasso Monti della Laga Park, known as the “gateway to the Park”. It is nestled on the banks of the Vomano River and is rich in tradition and history. In addition to the characteristic historic center, we can observe the Church of the Zoccolanti, the Church of the Cappuccini, the Church of San Rocco.
