August 2025, unfortunately we didn't read all the reviews and we ventured down this dangerous and impassable trail. Please don't venture there; there are no longer any signs, and in some places there's no walking surface. I don't know how we managed to get to the end, often following our intuition, because the GPS didn't always work. We fell many times, and even hurt ourselves. This is absolutely not an option.

July 2025 update - the route is still impassable and dangerous. It's very easy to get lost when following ghost signs that eventually disappear. Do not recommend following the loop route past corte vecchia on the right, stick to the maintained path on the left of the huts

The lake's location is unique; it already had 16 degrees Celsius today. A breathtaking landscape. The flora and fauna are also unique and diverse. Pure enjoyment!

An incredibly beautiful place, which we easily reached on foot from Splügen. The hut is not staffed, but can be booked for one night. Drinking water is fetched from the spring by boat... row across the upper Surettasee, enjoy the panorama, and refill your drinking water supplies at the spring... a truly adventurous experience.

April 2025 - the route after corte vecchia is still impassable. Very difficult to find path, and a very dangerous passage when crossing a river! We turned back. We agree with the other reviews that have already been written about this

WARNING See Daniele's warning February 17, 2024 We also got into serious trouble on this path in early September 2024. A rescue team and helicopter had to come to get us out of there. Do not endanger yourself and others and inquire in advance whether this route is passable, if in doubt do not do it. Connie

ATTENTION, the CAI path 455, after Corte Vecchia, going up from Bagni Masino, is not maintained, has collapsed and is impassable, at times even very dangerous. we found ourselves in difficulty. Before venturing there, contact the local CAI for information.
