The north bank next to the bridge is a Rastplatz: bikers, hikers and people coming via the canal are allowed to camp for free. There are no services, but plenty of space to pitch a tent

The real mountain bike highlight is the very rooty forest path to the west, which runs roughly parallel to this cycle path and runs between Jägerbude and Hohenbinde. Unfortunately, it cannot be seen on the Komoot map. The path runs along the edge between the forest and the meadow on the banks of the Spree.

In addition to the cathedral, the Old Town Hall is influential for the history and image of Fürstenwald - in the city and in the region. The building is a highlight for visitors and the city residents identify with it. The comprehensive renovation of the listed building was accompanied by increased revitalization. The Löcknitz is 33 km long. It has retained its original bank structures over around 20 km. One of my favorite hikes is the tour from Erkner to Fangschleuse and Hangelsberg through the Löcknitztal nature reserve.

A real insider tip! In the Old Town Hall Fürstenwalde there is a first-class gallery for modern art on the 1st floor. Around 4-5 solo exhibitions by well-known artists take place every year and the international miniatures prize is awarded every 4 years, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2022. Opening hours: April – October Tue.–Sun. 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m November – March Tue.–Sun. 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m
