The approximately 10-hectare renaturalized Mühlbach floodplain is located between Ober-Saulheim and Nieder-Saulheim and also serves as a public park. Really beautifully done!

The village fountain in Langgasse is a historically significant landmark in the community, due to the former weeds at this location, the nearby "Obere Pforte" (Upper Gate), the former boundary of the village, and the former site of the "Germania" memorial to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. But this spot is of great interest for another reason. On the new village fountain, the viewer will find two images: the current Albig coat of arms, and on the front water trough, a court seal. Unfortunately, the court seal has since weathered, so only those in the know can recognize what is depicted here.

By the way: The body of water was first mentioned in documents in 764 as super fluuium Salusiam. Since no salt extraction has been proven on the Selz, the name is probably derived from the ancient Celtic word *salā for "dirt" or Old High German salo "dark" and refers to the color of the water.
